Vegan Mofo day 8: gratuitous pizza photos

But first, here is what Michael made me for an after-work snack in order to make me forget my hellish day from that evil place that I'm at 40 hours a week.  (this was a really exceptionally bad day...  I can't stand being talked to like I'm an idiot and getting accused of losing things that I've never even seen before.)
homemade biscuits w/pumpkin butter (on the left) and cranberry walnut jam.  topped off with a lovely steaming cup of tea.  he is the bestest boyfriend ever.

Last night I got the pizza bug.  Michael brought home a pizza stone, on a whim, which is super cool because I've wanted one for awhile.  And oh, did we make the most awesomest fantabulous scintillating titillating scrumptious pizza in the world!  I made the crust with lots of dried basil and garlic powder, which baked for about 5 minutes before adding sauce, onions, peppers, spinach and tomatoes.  We brushed the crust with garlicky olive oil.  Here it is after its first stint in the oven:
just look at that crust.

We then added a few slices of tofutti mozzarella slices, covered it with foil, and popped it back in the oven until it was nice and melty.
ohh...hold me back...

As if that wasn't enough pure magic, I decided it needed to be finished off with some avocado slices.
a nice cool addition to hot and gooey pizza

We then cut it into fourths and devoured it.  Pizza is so amazing.  And I'm so glad I make my own crust now...  There is literally nothing like homemade pizza crust.  The pizza stone made it nice and crispy on the bottom, but the crusts on the end were still fluffy and wonderful and...yeah.  I'm gushing a bit.
there is really just nothing else like it

If there isn't so many toppings on my pizza that it falls apart and gets incredibly messy, then I feel as if I haven't done my job.  Pizza needs to be a complete mess.  Not neat and clean!  And this was one hell of a mess.  I had to cut it with a steak knife!  So.  If I have to eat my pizza with a fork and knife because I can't pick it up without total disaster striking, I've done well.

There is a seitan roast in my steamer right now, so get ready for a big, filling meal tomorrow!

Wow, your pizza looks glorious!!! That crust is seriously unbelievable.

I'm curious about the tofutti cheese too - is it weird? I have serious commercial vegan cheese hangups, they just tend to turn me off. But I keep holding out hope!

Awww... What a sweet boyfriend! Scones and pumpkin butter and jam? Perfect to ease the mind after a lame day at work (I can relate, my days at work have been awful lately).

Aren't pizza stones the best? I can't imagine making pizza without one. And homemade crusts? There's no other way. Your pizza is absolutely gorgeous!

Love your pizza! sorry to hear about shite work situation. That is a bummer. I agree - it is wretched when you are being talked down to - esp. at a place where you have to spend so much of your time. Try to have a great day....

Yay for Pizza Stones! Now you can make 'Breads of Narnia' too! I'm still waiting to test drive mine with a pizza. Your base looks amazing, and, like everyone else, I would like to know which dough recipe you used. Fess up!

your work day sounds *exactly* like mine! I hope today's is better for you than it is for me so far though...

... as for that pizza, can I come eat at your house? I'm in Montreal and ride a bike, so if I leave right after my Thanksgiving on Monday I should be there in time for your Thanksgiving in November...
